Prayer

"Enter into his gates with thanksgiving, and into his courts with praise: be thankful unto him, and bless his name." [Psalm 100:4]

"O give thanks unto the Lord, for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever. Then they cried unto the Lord in their trouble, and he delivered them out of their distresses. Oh that men would praise the Lord for his goodness, and for his wonderful works to the children of men!" [Psalm 107:1, 6, 8]

"But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;" [Matthew 5:44]

"But thou, when thou prayest, enter into thy closet, and when thou hast shut thy door, pray to thy Father which is in secret; and thy Father which seeth in secret shall reward thee openly." [Matthew 6:6]

"But when ye pray, use not vain repetitions, as the heathen do: for they think that they shall be heard for their much speaking. Be not ye therefore like unto them: for your Father knoweth what things ye have need of, before ye ask him." [Matthew 6:7-8]

"Therefore I say unto you, What things soever ye desire, when ye pray, believe that ye receive them, and ye shall have them." [Mark 11:24]

"And he spake this parable unto certain which trusted in themselves that they were righteous, and despised others: Two men went up into the temple to pray; the one a Pharisee, and the other a publican. The Pharisee stood and prayed thus with himself, God, I thank thee, that I am not as other men are, extortioners, unjust, adulterers, or even as this publican. I fast twice in the week, I give tithes of all that I possess. And the publican, standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes unto heaven, but smote upon his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner. I tell you, this man went down to his house justified rather than the other: for every one that exalteth himself shall be abased; and he that humbleth himself shall be exalted." [Luke 18:9-14]

"And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it." [John 14:13-14]

"Be careful (def. anxious, troubled with cares) for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God. And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus." [Philippians 4:6-7]

"But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus." [Philippians 4:19]

"Pray without ceasing." [1 Thessalonians 5:17]

"Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may have free course, and be glorified, even as it is with you:" [2 Thessalonians 3:1]

"I exhort therefore, that, first of all, supplications, prayers, intercessions, and giving of thanks, be made for all men;" [1 Timothy 2:1]

"Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need." [Hebrews 4:16]

"If any of you lack wisdom, let him ask of God, that giveth to all men liberally, and upbraideth not; and it shall be given him." [James 1:5]

"Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms. Is any sick among you? let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord:" [James 5:13-14]

"Confess your faults one to another, and pray one for another, that ye may be healed. The effectual fervent prayer of a righteous man availeth much." [James 5:16]

"Casting all your care (anxieties) upon him; for he careth for you." [1 Peter 5:7]

"If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness." [1 John 1:9]

"And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:" [1 John 5:14]
