VIGILANCE

Synonyms: observant, prepared, circumspect, mindful.

Antonyms: inattentive, negligent, unwise

#Vigilance = watchfulness, especially of danger or difficulty.

To protect the nation of Israel, many years ago, God gave a prophet named Ezekiel (Eze. 33) two responsibilities as a ‘watcher’:

1 – warn the people of threats from their physical surroundings [Eze. 33:6]

2 – warn the people of attitudes or behaviors that pose a spiritual threat to themselves or others [Eze. 33:7]

If anyone ignored the warnings they were accountable for their consequences.

If the watcher failed warn, the watcher was held accountable for the repercussions.

Today, God still seeks vigilant people to warn others. God places them as a ‘hedge of protection’ in the communities of His people [Eze. 22:30]

Having vigilance builds a hedge / wall, but lacking it leaves a person and a community vulnerable to threats. [Prov. 25:28]

We are thankful that #Scripture encapsulates Gods knowledge about our surroundings and lifestyles, so that anyone who wants to can take wise precautions. [Matt.10:16, Eph. 6;11]

“Therefore see that you walk carefully [living life circumspectly with honor, purpose, and courage; confronting those who tolerate and enable wrongdoing], not as the unwise, but as wise [sensible, intelligent, discerning people]” [Eph. 5:15 – AMP]

Being mindful to uphold God’s standards in our lives and communities gives Higher meaning to “Speaking-UP⬆️”
