PENTECOST
Today, followers of Christ celebrate Pentecost Πεντηκοστῆς (Pentēkostēs), 50 days after Christs’ Resurrection……“The Birthday of the Christian church.”
Prior to this, those who had Gods spirit placed upon them had rations of it by condition, knowing that it was easily lost. King David understood this and asked God to help him remain in alignment:
“God, create a pure heart in me, and renew a right attitude within me. Do not banish me from your presence or take your holy spirit from me.” [Psa.51:10,11]
Pentecost celebrates when Christ offered this once rationed gift to now be ‘poured out’ to ALL people in FULL measure without REVOKE to ANYONE accepting of Christ’s offer of this spirit and the access it grants. Peter realized this when he spoke the 1st message that Day [Acts 2:16-20]. Apostle Paul spoke further about this gift the church received on its birth-day!:
“For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable [for He does not withdraw what He has given, nor does He change His mind about those to whom He gives His grace or to whom He sends His call]. [Rom.11:29]
“…so that you are not lacking in any spiritual gift [which comes from the Holy Spirit], as you eagerly wait [with confident trust] for the revelation of our Lord Jesus Christ [when He returns].” [1 Cor.1:7 AMP]
Just as we can enjoy the use of gift(s) people give us on our human birthdays, now we ALL can enjoy the use and benefits of the greatest gift possible - one that makes us spiritually whole and provides permanent access to God!
