Life's Race
A good run helps clear the mind. Paul wrote something that inspired the question - ‘what thoughts run us?’...
‘All athletes train themselves to build self-control. They train hard for temporary rewards, but we train for rewards which last forever. That is why I run with purpose, straight for the finish line, not aimlessly [1 Cor. 9:25,26]
We can’t run life’s race properly without addressing the thoughts which are ‘running’ us…
‘Be extremely careful of the thoughts you entertain, because they run your life’ [Prov. 4:23]
‘For God’s Word is life-giving and powerful, keener than the sharpest two-edged sword. Only it can discern our secret thoughts and underlying motivations.’[Heb. 4:12]
Changing our priorities to Gods perspectives allows God to spare us disillusionment and burnout. He meets all our needs by sending the things TO our lives, which people tire themselves chasing after (at great cost.)
‘...for the nations eagerly chase after all these common things; for your Heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. But if you pursue FIRST what matters He presides over and ways already having His approval, all these things (which people chase after) will instead be ADDED to you. [Matt.6:31-33]
‘Lord, surely your goodness and loving kindness will PURSUE ME all the days of my life...’ [Psa. 23.6]
‘The Lords blessing enrich you, without painful toil on you to attain them.’[Prov. 10:22]
Life is a challenging race to run. But we’re thankful that the Scriptures show how the race is run and won!
