Liberty - Independence Day
Happy 🇺🇸 Independence Day!
Thinking about ‘liberty’… We read a few simple biblical truths this morning showing keys to being truly free:
“My brothers and sisters, you were invited to freedom; but do not abuse your liberty by indulging worldliness and selfishness, but instead, be governed by Gods standard of love, serving and only seeking the best for one another.” [Galatians 5:13]
In society, the bondage from withholding of freedoms and the bondage from self-indulgence are rampant. We read here that #truefreedom isn’t ‘FREE’ and can’t be earned - it’s by accepting Gods invitation, because God made provision for it!
Contrary to society’s definitions and behaviors… true freedom isn’t the right to do whatever we want. Instead, it is our choice to experience what God says is right… a lifestyle of serving and benefiting one another - with God abundantly providing for our all of our individual needs:
“But you must never stop looking at Gods perfect law that sets you free. God will bless you in everything you do, if you listen and obey, and don't just hear it and forget it.” [James 1:25]
Liberty is best enjoyed when we each decide to learn and continually practice what God says produces it.
We’re thankful that God is the author of our spiritual Declaration of Liberty… and to us that makes everyday a holiday!
