Beneficial Ways to Communicate
Words are our primary communication with others.
So, we’re sharing (4) beneficial ways to communicate that we read in The Scriptures:
1) Listening BEFORE we Speak:
James 1:19 – “My dear brothers and sisters, take note of this: Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry,”
This solution is the opposite of being slow to listen, hasty to speak and hot tempered. One of the nicest things we can do for others is to listen to them. But listening also helps us to communicate wisely and control our anger.
2) Asking for Help:
James 4:2 notes that ‘NOT asking for help’ is a major cause of our needs going unmet and conflicts with others. Being humble enough to ask for help is better than experiencing humiliation because we didn’t ask when help was needed.
3) Handling Offences:
Matthew 18:15 - “If another believer wrongs you, speak privately with THEM and point out their offense. If they listen and confess it, you have won that person back.”
If someone offends us, Scripture says to tell them privately, not other people. God’s solutions may not always be easy, but they always work. Once everything’s resolved, we don’t repeat the matter (see: Prov. 10:12, 1 Peter 4:8.)
4) Stop Lying:
Proverbs 4:24 - Rid yourself of a deceitful mouth and keep devious speech far from you.
Lying is a widely accepted way to achieve desires. But even ‘half truths’ are still ‘whole lies’ to God. Its best to speak TRUTHfully. We cannot control all of the external suggestions that come at us from society, but we can control the words which come from us.
Proverbs 20:15 - “Wise words are more valuable than much gold and many rubies.”
God knows the VALUE and POWER of words and has offered us His way to communicate!
That’s the kind of talk that is NEVER cheap!!
