Agape Love

Today we’re sharing (3) ‘LOVE’ passages, where God uses the word #AGAPE (pronounced a-ga-pē), to distinguish His Love (which is not based in emotion) from other kinds of human emotional love.

1. “Loving (AGAPE) God means keeping His commandments, and His commandments are not burdensome.” [1 Jhn. 5:3]

God sees true love as obeying His instructions, and not thinking they’re a burden or merely another perspective. We can know what true love is because HE defines it in Scripture.

2. “Love (AGAPE) does no wrong to others...” [Ex. Rom. 13:10]

It’s impossible to hurt others with Gods love. Our emotions don’t carry that same guarantee. The saying… ‘you always hurt the one you love’, isn’t correct when the ‘love’ is AGAPE.

3. “Such love (AGAPE) has no fear, because perfect love (AGAPE) expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced His perfect love (AGAPE).”[1 Jhn. 4:18]

Fear is a human emotion, which hinders our spiritual maturity and receptiveness to Gods love. AGAPE is the only kind of love that has no fear in it, and IT has the power to expel ALL our fears.

This all gives new meaning to ‘TRUE ♥️’!
